Foundation Chair of the International Network of Government Science Advice (INGSA) (2014-2021). 

Sir Peter Gluckman is president of the International Science Council (ISC) and was foundation chair of the International Network of Government Science Advice (INGSA) (2014-2021).  Sir Peter trained as a biomedical scientist and holds a Distinguished University Professorship in the University of Auckland (UoA) where he directs the Centre for Informed Futures. From 2009-2018 he was first Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand. He was made a Knight of the NZ Order of Merit (2009), made a member of the Order of New Zealand (the highest honour limited to 20 living New Zealanders) and received the Rutherford Medal (NZs highest scientific award). He was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (1992-2001) and founding Director (2001-2009) of the Liggins Institute of the UoA. He has published over 800 scientific papers in human and experimental sciences and written extensively on the science-policy and science-diplomacy interfaces and authored echnical and popular-science books. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London (2001), the Royal Society of NZ (1986), a member of the National Academy of Medicine (USA, 2004), a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (UK, 2006), a fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (2021) and a foundation fellow of the International Science Council (2022). Amongst international awards he was awarded Singapore’s highest scientific honour, the Presidential Science and Technology medal in 2021 and the American Association for Advancement of Sciences Science Diplomacy award in 2016.
