Chen Jingming also serves as an adjunct director of the International Institute of Earth System Science at Nanjing University. His major research interests include vegetation remote sensing and terrestrial carbon and water cycles. He has published over 410 refereed papers, which are cited over 21,000 times with an H index of 77 (Web of Science).
He is currently an Editor-in-Chief of Remote Sensing of Environment. He serves on the Expert Panel of the Global Change Program of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Scientific Steering Committee of the American Flux Network.
